I'm sure everyone would agree that above is a gorgeous dog. She is beautiful, intelligent, playful at times and the most annoying dog that you will ever encounter. Her name is Destiny and she is the sister to my dog Ruby. She is my brothers dog but he hardly takes care of her so you could say that she is basically Jamie and my dog.
The problem with Destiny is that she wants attention. All. The. Time. 24/7 she wants the focus on her. If she doesn't get it she acts out. Horribly. Not chewing things up and destroying them or anything like that. I will give you some examples on how my day starts with her. My brother gets ready to leave the house for school, he lets her into my room. She runs over to me and I say "Morning Destiny" cowering on the inside because I know it's going to start. Boom. Paws go up and on my chair, arm, back, side, anywhere she can land them. She's got it down to a science. She puts those huge paws on me and claws. I've never known a dog to claw like a cat but that's the nearest I can think of when it comes to that. I usually get scratches on my arms and stuff from her doing this. She does this to me a minimum of ten times a day. If I am on my bed and she can't get to me she claws at my comforter.
That's not all though. If someone comes into the room or any room that we are in and she is near and they are talking and not paying attention to her, she will bark. A loud high pitched bark continuously. Telling her to be quiet or shut up doesn't work.
She constantly poops in the house no matter how many times you take her outside. Just yesterday my husband had the dogs outside for about an hour, he brought them in and five minutes later she had poop downstairs. She has something against going to the bathroom outside even though she was potty trained the same exact way as her sister and at the same exact time. Ruby goes to the bathroom outside.
She is super aggressive towards Ruby. Jamie believes this is because they are sisters because she plays fine with my sisters dog Xena. You can tell that Destiny is definitely the dominant one between the two but sometimes it goes too far. There has never been blood drawn besides little nicks that Ruby with come away with which pisses me off.
No type of punishment or training has helped any of this behavior. We have spanked her (although I really don't think she feels it. They are after all German Shepherd/Malamute Mix), put her on her leash inside and kept her near one of us restricting her freedom when she does something bad.
The only way I can think of her is like a very very out of control teen. The only thing we have left to try is crate training which is something that we should have done from the beginning. The thing with that though is that we need to buy two because while we are working with one dog we have to work with the other one. Unfortunately as well a crate will cost about $70 for a really cheap one. So that's at least $150 for the two of them and we don't have the ability to get them right now.
Don't get me wrong though, despite days of this annoying behavior, I love this dog and wouldn't trade her for the world. She is a really great dog and quite entertaining at times. In fact, when we do get her crate trained, and if does stop the things I listed above, she will be one of the best dogs I have seen. She is loving, protective, playful, entertaining especially when it comes to falling leaves in the backyard, gorgeous and strong willed. I just wish I could send her to doggy bootcamp.
