Alzheimer is a horrible disease that affects a lot of people around the world. It is something that runs in my family and one of my grandfather's sisters found out recently that she has the beginning stages of Alzheimer. My mother is also afraid that she has the beginning signs of it as well since she forgets little things a lot of the time. With Alzheimer being so common in my family it has gotten me thinking about how truly horrible it would be to have this. It is horrible to be diagnosed with any disease actually. With Alzheimer you forget. I can not imagine watching a loved one forgetting everything slowly everyday. Some days not even knowing who you are. The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer care, support, and research.
This is not just one walk in one city but it is held annually all over the country in hundreds of counties. To find one near you, all you have to do is go to the Memory Walk website and put in your zipcode. Not one near you? You can sign up to become a Team Captain and start your own walk. If you do want to become a Team Captain make sure you sign up early enough to recruit a team. These walks do not have an age limit. You can be any age to walk in the Memory Walks. I like that aspect. Let everyone and anyone that wants to participate.
If you do not want to be a Team Captain you can sign up to be a Team Walker or an Independent Walker. Walk for a good cause and raise money for a good cause.
