I have often thought about what the place would look like and what kind of bakery display cases I would use and what would be in it. I think it is really exciting to be able to think of what everything will look like and what kind of decor I would use. Even down to what kind of refrigeration and freezer system I would want to use and what I would need to have in it. With my dream I am very detail orientated!

Naturally I already have my name picked out as it would be the same name as my baking blog which I have had to let go into hibernation for a good while until I am able to post more on it.

I think that I would do great at running a bakery, it would be a lot of fun and eventually something that could employ all my family members that needed it. Something like the Cake Boss, how theirs have been in their family for ages. I think that would be awesome. So, for now I will browse Tiger Chef and mentally map it out.

Of course, right now, it is a distant dream and maybe not one that will come true but it is always there, always in my mind, and I think that’s healthy.

Jeremy is finally turning the big two tomorrow! Shaina did something special for his birthday and made cookies. Nick is making the cake but he’s doing that probably as I type.

I thought maybe I would do one a day, but that sounds like a lot of work to me! So maybe one every other day. They would be recipes like snickerdoodles and candy cane cookies (If my mom wasn’t up to baking them).

I need more holiday recipes though or we’re all going to end up as big as this house!

Oh and definitely sugar cookies and gingerbread men/women were on the list!

This year for Halloween I want to try my hand at doing sugar cookie cut-outs that are decorated by hand. I’ve been seeing a lot around on the food blogs lately and they are taunting me.

I want to do something like these. Of course they won’t look that good. They’ll probably end up looking like a Logo flash drive or something weird. Maybe a rubik’s cube! Who knows!

So these will be done. Oh yes, they will be done.

Here is my messed up masterpiece of a cake for Jeremy’s birthday cake. Of course you have to let the baby dig in on his first birthday cake. So, you have to make them their own cake or you’ll be eating their spit and feet depending on what they do!

So I did this cake. It didn’t turn out near what I wanted but then again I didn’t plan on not making the frosting from scratch and being so rushed. Luckily, he’s only one so he doesn’t quite think it’s horrible. After eating any amount of this chocolate frosting he won’t need any colon cleansers that’s for sure!

Shaina made Jeremy some birthday cupcake cones for everyone else while Jeremy got  a little cake that I made. The cupcake cones are so cute. I haven’t had any but everyone else said they were delicious. I have a feeling that they’d much rather eat these cupcake cones than look into software development or something of the sort.

They did turn out beautiful I think.

So for Jamie and my birthday which was July 15th and 17th respectively, we had a joint cake. I had asked for a fancy cake but Mom and Shaina went all out and made a four tier cake with fondant!

This photo does not do the cake justice as it doesn’t even show the top. Bad photography on my husbands half. That’s why I don’t like having him pick the better pictures!

This was my moms first time working with fondant and also doing a million tiers on a cake like this. For the first time doing it I think it’s fantastic!

Actually, it was a pretty awesome cake in my opinion. I helped a little with rolling it out and you have to blame me for the placement of the covering because I’ve never worked with different shaped layers like this one was. So it was a learning experience all around.

They did a fantastic job on the cake and it was even delicious. 5 stars!
