It’s made of gold

You hear about gold everywhere. On television it is usually something about selling all your gold or your gold jewelry. You might not even pay attention to the commercials anymore because they have been played so often.

Do you really know much about gold? Did you know that gold was the first metal known to us and that it is the easiest to work with? That is more than likely the reason why it has been used in Gold Coins when money was first becoming in circulation. However, money was not the first use for for gold. The first use was actually ornamental and it marked that of royalty. You would not see any peasants walking around with Bullion Coins and handing it out to people.

In fact, the value of gold was one that was accepted all over the world, which made it an international payment. Image getting your hands on some Gold Bullion in that day and age. You would be rich and powerful.

Treat your gold right.

New phone? Nah…

Jamie’s contract with Verizon is just about up so he decided to go with the phone that he’s been swooning over for about 11 months, the Droid X. I have to admit, I wanted one hard when I started looking at it. What’s not to love? It is a beautiful phone.

However, my contract isn’t up although I did get the text that I could upgrade early. That’s so they can rope me into a new contract. However, the few complaints I have with my phone aren’t that big of a deal. After mulling it over I decided to just keep my current Blackberry Pearl until something better came along.

Then..I saw it..it was beautiful. It was something that I had been looking for. It was…not on Verizon so out of my reach! The Blackberry Torch. Ugh. Gorgeous phone but on AT&T. No thank you! I have had 0 problems with Verizon and plan on staying here.

So, I read on and found there are ‘rumors’ of a Blackberry Storm 3 making it’s way later this year as well as a Blackberry Storm 4 (I think that’s what I read) which should be released in 2011 which is said to be the ‘iPhone killer’. Now, this has peaked my curiosity long enough to stop looking at phones and start waiting for more on these delicious Blackberry phones in which they speak of.

Let’s face it…I love my Blackberry and wouldn’t mind another one! I hope the web browser is like the OS 6!

TV while I work

I think it always a good thing while you are working to have some kind of noise in the background. Even if you are not paying attention to the noise or where it is coming from, I think having some kind of ‘distraction’ helps you out. I think that must be the reason that some places offer direct tv for lobby settings. It is so easy to set up a television inside an office that you would be silly not to do it.

If you have customers coming in and having to wait a certain amount of time, having a television there to distract them from the wait would make them a little less cranky about it. That is why it is a good business move and you often see direct tv for hospitals . I know there was a few times when I went to the doctors during my pregnancy where it was a bit of a wait but I just sat there and zoned out on television!

You get so many channels that there would definitely be something that is related in some way to your work. Heck, even putting a channel that has nothing but infomercials into it would give people something to listen to while they work and customers to watch while they wait!

You could always check something out such as http://www.dishbusiness.com/index.shtml which would give you some great deals and a lot of channels.

I will tell you that I am a whole lot more productive when I have something in the background in order to distract me a little so that I do not become so bored with what I am currently doing. It’s just some food for thought, that’s all!

On the list to get…

After Duncan weans and I start looking for a job, one of the first things on our to buy list is a new car. Well, not brand new but new for us you know? We have been going over different makes of cars that we know are reliable and that we would really like to look into getting. It’s kind of funny because we will see a car on the road and say “oh I like that one” or “no, that one just would not do!”

Something that I looked at was a Chevy Avalanche, and that seems like a pretty good fit. However, we want something a little smaller. My mom used to love going out with my father in his toyota land cruiser. She always has a ton of stories to tell about how they were young and dumb and went on different things. However, a land cruiser just isn’t for us. There’s no need for it!

I really wouldn’t mind a ford flex or a volvo c30 – now those are kind of cute. However, I won’t lie. My dream car is a Ford Focus. Oh what I wouldn’t give to have one of those bad boys. That is actually the car that we will be looking for when we go to buy one. It is something that I have always wanted, reliable, good on gas and super cute. Besides, I would look adorable driving it around and to work and back, don’t you just think so?

I know you do!

Not too happy with Chili’s

Posted in General on July 23rd, 2010 by Sabriena – Be the first to comment

Since I won the $30 gift card from Chili’s I decided that today we would take it in and use it. I was going to use it for me, Jamie, and my mom and we’d pay the difference, obviously!

Well, Jamie called the Chili’s closest to us because it’s a 45 minute drive and we didn’t want to drive there for no reason. The girl said they’d call him back to see if they accepted the eGift card. Well, needless to say, she didn’t. So, we went.

We got there and before we were seated I asked if they accepted it. She came back and told me that they don’t accept it because the last time they did their manager didn’t know how to input it. However, there is instructions for the managers right on the paper for it that was printed out. Seriously? The manager couldn’t read and figure it out?

Ugh. So, I wrote them and hopefully something can be done because I don’t want to have won something that I can’t use and the next Chili’s that is close to us is 39 miles away! I’m not paying all that gas just to go to Chili’s!
