Well, since I had all of no time yesterday to get a thankful post in, I am going to combine two days in one! So I better make it good!

Well, for day three I will have to say that I am thankful for my entire family. The family that lives with us and the family that doesn’t. Without family you are really can’t enjoy life. Sure you can go on living and all that but what do you have for the holidays, what do you have for every day? Who are you going to celebrate the good times with and lean on for the bad times?

As a family, we’ve gone through plenty of both!

Day three is out of the way, now for day four I am thankful to my furbabies.

Ruby rolling

Ruby – German Shepherd/Malamute

Trinity, Happy.

Trinity – Misunderstood.

Lollipop

Lollipop – Basement cat.

So, I am thankful for my current furbabies as well as the babies that have passed on. They all bring something special to my life.

The Queen in the tub

You never know where Trinity is going to be. She’s like a ninja and picks the funniest spots to be. Shaina took pictures of her in the bathtub the other day.

Now the bathtub isn’t an uncommon place for a cat to be. Especially in the summer time as it is cool. Our bathtub is made out of metal as well. Not fiberglass. This tub weighs a ton and it took Jamie, Trevor, and I to move it into the hallway to do the flooring and such for the bathroom. This is old and well made.

Anyway, Trinity, like other cats, loves to be in boxes, bags, Eagle Creek luggage and anything that she can fit into.

It’s always amazing the places this cat will squeeze her butt into. She’s not a small cat either. She’s done this for oh, about ten years now! Can you imagine that she is over nine years old? It seems like yesterday she was playing with her Ghetto 2000 toy and sleeping on my stereo!

Unexpectedly one of our cat’s fell pregnant. I say unexpectedly because she never gets out of the house. Barely is downstairs when someone isn’t down there. Is usually in my room sleeping. All day. All night.

During her pregnancy she didn’t even gain the “oval” shaped belly. But she was pregnant and she did have kittens. Unfortunately for the kittens, one was undeveloped and was a still birth, one made it but was sick as she went to hide it under my bed, and then one made it and was healthy. The sick one died two days later next to Lolli. Very sad but also expected.

The one that made it is still not old enough to find its own home yet so we’re enjoying watching it explore and run around.

We call the kitten Short Stack.

Lolli's Kitten

As all baby animals, Ruby has taken a strong liking to the kitten and tries to be the Mama. You can see the total size difference from Ruby’s nose to the kitten! This was in mid patting at her nose.

I have also caught a rare photo. One I have always wondered how people get them. How they manage to be there at the right time, how they managed to stop looking at the top diet pills and take a picture of…a cat mid yawn!

I did it. It’s beautiful. Okay, so maybe Short Stack looks a bit psychotic, that’s okay though.

Mid-Yawn

I am victorious!

Teenie and her babies

Here’s a little Wednesday picker upper picture. This is our cat with her kittens. You see that little Calico one in the middle? That one was dropped off and isn’t hers.

She had been feeding it, cleaning it, and caring for it as if it was her own. You can tell it wasn’t due to the size difference in hers and it.

Sadly, the caring she provided for the kitten wasn’t enough and I found her deceased yesterday morning in the middle of our sunroom.

Circle of life, meant to be, however you look at it, it is still sad and I was rooting for this baby. Unfortunately all the rooting didn’t help much and it was still time for her to go no matter the length of her life. Very sad.

However I was very impressed with Teenie and her taking in this kitten as if it was her own. Very proud that she did this and gave it her best.

Lorphanie

That cute cat is Lorphanie. What kind of name is Lorphanie and how the heck did we come up with it?

Come along with me while I tell you a story. Share some popcorn too!

One night while Jamie and Nick were coming home from Karate they went to the front door and saw this cat sitting in front of it.  Jamie called me because he said it looked like a stray from years ago that just never left the house and adopted us.

I went downstairs to see this supposed long lost cat when I thought it was a different one. We’ve had a lot of cats.

Don’t look at me like that…We’re not the crazy cat house.

Okay…I admit it. We are.

Well, this cat ran in the house like it owned the joint. After finding out that this was neither Fancy, the long lost cat or Emo, the recently taken to someone’s home cat we placed her back outside.

She screamed and screamed and meowed. So, I thought she was hungry. I put food and water out there for her. When it comes to animals, I’m a big sucker. So I did feed this cat.

Days went by and this cat never left the sun room.  Running in the house every chance it got, being chased back out of the house, and playing with wood chips flying while Jamie chopped wood. This cat was like one of those wall fountains that just never stops. Relentless.

Finally one day she ran in and I said I wasn’t going to chase her out. She was dead set on being in the house so we might as well let her spend the winter in a warm house.

We had to give her a name, since she adopted us and all. She was an orphan (so we said) and just showed up on our doorstep. Little Orphan Annie. Too long but the perfect fit.

Lorphanie! It’s pronounced Lor-fan-ee Weird I know. Don’t judge me! This is the perfect name. Mom calls her Annie.

Ever since letting her into the house she has proven to be a fantastic cat. In fact, better than half the cats (we have 5) in the house currently. She used the litter box, doesn’t fight, doesn’t get into too much food (garbage doesn’t count..what animal doesn’t do that?) and is quite the lover.

Lorphanie and Ruby

She even gets along with Ruby! Someone lost a good cat here…and we get to enjoy her! I’m not at all sad about that.
