For almost two years, I have had the joy of being an aunt to Shaina’s fantastically cute son, Jeremy. Now, Shaina gets to have the joy of being an aunt to my fantastically cute son and know what it feels like to spoil the kid and send him on his way!
In a couple months, we’ll be able to finally meet our other nephew, Hunter. I’m pretty excited for it.
There was quite a bit of fun to be had on the fourth of July. Yes, I realize I’m way late, but that’s how I do!
We baked, we laughed, we ate, and we ate some more, played basketball (minus me), and then set off fireworks (minus Duncan and I).
I think the one person who had the most fun out of the whole day was Jeremy. That kid had the biggest kick out of everyone being outside and him running all over.
He loved getting in the middle of their basketball game and making them stop! However, he did manage to stop and play with Sadie for a bit.
You can see everyone in the background playing basketball as well. Actually, Jamie, Shaina, Big Nick, and I weren’t in there. Big Nick joined later on. The real star of the photo is Jer laughing at Sadie.
The sky gave us the most gorgeous color. However, it did end up sprinkling a tiny bit!
Duncan was trying to go to sleep by the time the fireworks were being set off. It was his bedtime. He didn’t do horribly with the fireworks, he jumped every time the bangs went off though, so I just took him in the house. I was afraid of getting bit up by the mosquitoes as well. Ironically enough, that night while I was sleeping was when I got eaten alive…not outside. Go figure.
Duncan has been such a happy baby when it comes to his baths that it’s surprised both Jamie and I. He had about two baths where he cried and screamed but after that he’s had a great time with them. Especially since now he is kicking his legs a whole bunch!
Colton and Nick are already out of school, can you believe it? Summer is officially around the corner. I’m planning on baking something for Fourth of July but will be getting back into it before then as well. Can’t wait, I already have my eye on a recipe in one of my books.
Can you believe that January is almost over already? It feels like it just began! However, we’ve had a lot happen in the 16 days of the new year. With finding out that we’re having a boy, doctor appointments, as well as a family emergency, I am really looking forward to some calm days!
I took my glucose test on my last appointment and you know, it wasn’t that bad. I had the fruit punch drink and it just tasted like Kool-Aid where someone was just a bit heavy handed with the sugar. Think little kids making Kool-Aid and you’ll know the taste! I won’t know the results until my next appointment I’m sure. However, I figured if there was a problem they would have probably called to have me come in. I don’t know how these things go, I’m just assuming!
At that appointment the midwife (whom I’ve had twice now and really like her, but now that I’ve said it I’ll get someone else next time!) checked the uterus size, by feeling and measuring. She said that I jumped from 22 weeks to 28 weeks in size. She also said with a growth spurt like that, if I hadn’t had an ultrasound and knew we were only having one baby they would have given me an ultrasound to look for twins. I thought that was funny.
Around Wednesday, my little brothers Dad was taken to the hospital with suspicions of a stroke or heart attack. He was talking gibberish, combative, and didn’t know who anyone was. Thankfully, it was not a stroke or anything but swelling of the brain from another condition that they found. Also, thankfully, he is back to normal and only has to spend six more days in the hospital so he is doing well. We figured that this was going to start out just another bad year like last year.
I suppose someone is really looking out for that man since five years ago he got sick and was in a coma for a long time. A lesson for all to take care of themselves and love live, it’s short definitely.
Even all that, since he’s doing well, so far this year hasn’t been horrible in the slightest. Still doing well except that one of our cars is acting up! Always something with our cars. The Suburban hates winters and developed a flat while Jamie and Trevor were out getting wood, we haven’t fixed it yet though, and the Olds has something going on with its breaks that Jamie has to look at tomorrow.
Like I said though, so far this year hasn’t been horrible. How can it when I have Duncan building forts in the womb and I’ve been able to actually see the movements for a couple weeks now. It’s fascinating. I’m also almost in third trimester in our pregnancy. Before we know it, I’ll be going into labor and Jamie and I will be making posts on our websites welcoming our little bundle.
I’m still here! All I’ve been doing lately is working and sleeping, oh and running to the doctor and my mom to the doctor. All is well though thankfully.
Mom found out that it isn’t her heart that is giving troubles, it’s her esophagus. It’s closing and mimics a heart attack. Never heard of it myself but it’s interesting and scary. So she’s on a medicine for that and hopefully it helps it.
All in all, nothing interesting has been going on. We’ve passed the 2 month pregnancy mark. They tried to listen to the heartbeat but couldn’t find it. Was told this is normal and not to worry. Jamie isn’t worried much so I won’t worry unless they can’t find it at our ultrasound which they will call us with when scheduled soon.
