Well, we had our ultrasound this morning. The good news is that the baby is measuring great and that all the things they were able to check out are good. The real reason of the ultrasound at 19 weeks was to check on the cyst which is now 8cmx5cm which has gotten a bit bigger, or is just a different shape due to the expanding baby!
The bad news? The baby played stubborn and kept his/her legs shut tight and wouldn’t have anyone looking at the bits! Not to mention the umbilical cord was also between the legs! The doctor came in to have a look at the cyst and gave finding the gender a try. He said that he thinks he saw labia but didn’t want to say girl in case it was testicles! So, he says he is leaning towards girl but not certain at all.
More good news though is that since they want to keep an eye on the cyst size we get an ultrasound every month. The lady said that next ultrasound we may even get to look at the baby in the 3D one. Although, I find the 3D ultrasounds a bit creepy looking, it would be kind of neat to see our own baby like that.
We haven’t got the images from the scan up yet but once we do I’ll post them of course!
Now, it’s the countdown until January 5th when our next ultrasound is. Although I’m sure December is going to fly by with the holiday and all that! On to tomorrow, the doctor’s appointment where hopefully I don’t get yelled at for not having weight gain if there is none. The baby is weighing in at about 9 ounces right now! So all is well.
Tomorrow is the day we’ve been waiting for since around August 18 when we found out the great news of our pregnancy.
That’s right, it’s the second ultrasound, the one where, if the baby isn’t being shy, we can find out the gender!
So, the question is boy or girl? Of course we don’t care either way. Never have and it’s not going to change! In Jamie’s words, “All I want is a healthy baby with one gender!”
So, tomorrow at 9:40am we get to go in and see the tyke for the second time. We’ve been counting down since we got our date at the first ultrasound. 7 weeks has flown by and I can’t believe we’re already here!
Nervous? Oh hell yes I am. Hoping everything is fine with the baby. Hoping my cyst didn’t get bigger so it is left alone. It would be fantastic if it just went away actually!
This Thursday we will be officially at the half way point, 20 weeks. Mind blowing to say the very least!
