I was thinking awhile ago to get back into the baking spirit that I was going to be doing a Christmas baking countdown thing.

I thought maybe I would do one a day, but that sounds like a lot of work to me! So maybe one every other day. They would be recipes like snickerdoodles and candy cane cookies (If my mom wasn’t up to baking them).

I need more holiday recipes though or we’re all going to end up as big as this house!

Oh and definitely sugar cookies and gingerbread men/women were on the list!

During our baking day the boys in the house helped. If you know boys..then you know how they helped. Rough housing was definitely a plenty in the kitchen that day. At least it wasn’t arguing right? Anyway, Nick and Colton actually helped out for a bit. Nick looked really cute with his little apron on.

The first words out of his mouth when he came in to help was, “I need an apron!”. Mom went and found him one from the cabinet and although smelled a bit musty from being in there all year, it was cute on him.  Of course, it isn’t a holiday without someone getting punched on (playfully of course) or put into some kind of headlock. Colton, Nick, and my darling husband (although sometimes would count as a kid, right?) were all there in the kitchen to help out with the entertainment for the evening. Somehow Jamie got

Nick into a headlock between his legs. I don’t know how it happened, but Nick was not very happy about it.  He didn’t even want his picture taken when he was like that.

As you can see from him covering his face up in the picture. That was the best picture that I could get.  It was a fun day all around though!

Last weekend we had our Christmas baking day. It of course ran off into the next day…then the next day. It never gets done in one day. It is always fun to try new recipes and have the family around sticking their grubby little hands out to “try” the stuff. Or whine because they can’t eat that whole plate of fudge. The kitchen looked like a war zone. Alright, it didn’t look that bad at all. We kept it fairly clean. Just the ingredients were all over the place. Here are a couple pictures of the one side of the counter.

Nice right? Looks messy but we knew where everything was!  So, I made Peppermint Bark Hearts and cute snowman head cookies. Here they are:

So cute! These recipes are a keeper! Both found in a Christmas cook book from Betty Crocker!
