Some things I’ve learned

This past two weeks the news has been filled with death.  Celebrity deaths are more noted. Deaths in Iran due to an election.

You know what is horrible through all of this? It’s not that these people have died, it’s that more important things are going on in the world. Yes, it is sad that these people have passed on for one reason or another, yes it is sad to see icons pass on. However, the only people that should be truly affected by this is their friends, family, and loved ones.

Why is Michael Jackson’s death overshadowing someone who suffered through a horrible cancer for three years? To me, it should be more sad that Farrah Fawcett passed away because she was fighting to live. She was the one that wanted to live and did everything she could to not die from her anal cancer.

Michael Jackson on the other hand was more or less a drug abuser. Killing himself slowly and not giving a damn about his family or children. Yes, we all have jammed to the occassional Michael Jackson songs on our ipods, when it comes down to it, no one knew him. Oh it’s horrible, 20 years ago he was super popular and talented.

Farrah Fawcett, struggled for three years with cancer. We know these two people died on the same day and Jackson’s death was more shocking as Fawcett’s was a waiting game towards the end, it shouldn’t have been overshadowed by someone killing themselves with drug addiction.

On top of that we have Ed McMahon. He was alive for 86 years and was the pitchman for the Tonight Show.  Now Billy Mays which is known for his informercials.

Four celebrities, one week. Lots of tears and heartache for Hollywood. Death sucks, but I do have to say, I was more upset over my own family member passing on than a celebrity whom I had no acquaintance with.

There are more important things to be worried about. Such as if North Korea is going to blow our asses away. Get your priorities straight.
