Since being in Indiana we have learned something about the weather: It’s erratic. You can never guess what it is going to be from one minute to the next.
For instance, one day last month we had a nice day. It was calm and sunny. Then at the blink of an eye there was a storm with some pretty gusty winds. This particular storm seemed to have a vendetta…against our mailbox.
When the storm was over, our mailboxes lid was tore off and in the street! Of course we had to go out and get a new mailbox. Anything to do with replacing something in the house sparks a fire under my mom and she starts daydreaming about things that she could get.
Residential Mailboxes have a ton of options, options I didn’t even realize. One website, Mailboxixchange.com, has over 2500 mailbox and curbside decor. I think it would be great curb appeal to have a Victorian looking mailbox.
Perhaps when the storm blows and takes out this mailbox, we’ll go looking for a fancier one!
I’m still here! All I’ve been doing lately is working and sleeping, oh and running to the doctor and my mom to the doctor. All is well though thankfully.
Mom found out that it isn’t her heart that is giving troubles, it’s her esophagus. It’s closing and mimics a heart attack. Never heard of it myself but it’s interesting and scary. So she’s on a medicine for that and hopefully it helps it.
All in all, nothing interesting has been going on. We’ve passed the 2 month pregnancy mark. They tried to listen to the heartbeat but couldn’t find it. Was told this is normal and not to worry. Jamie isn’t worried much so I won’t worry unless they can’t find it at our ultrasound which they will call us with when scheduled soon.
Thursday night we had quite the scare in our family. While I was working my sister came down and said my mom was having really bad chest pains and I needed to go upstairs.
So, I run upstairs and find her hold her chest trying to catch her breath. My first words are “Do you need to go to the hospital”. Of course she’s stubborn and says no no it’s just gas. While gasping for air and in obvious pain. Naturally I hound, and tell her to get dressed that we’re going to the ER. Eventually she folds because one of her arm starts to burn/tingle. Clear sign of heart attack.
We get to the ER and they run a bunch of tests. They said that they later were 97% sure she didn’t have a heart attack but there is the 3 percent which she may have. Well, this isn’t like discussing the best acne treatment or anything. This is serious. The doctor said he’d like her to stay for observation and such however, they didn’t have room in that hospital for her. This hospital is pretty small and more or less just a stop to go to a bigger one.
So, she decides to go to Ball hospital and they transport her with an ambulance. Nothing is more horrible than seeing your mother on a stretcher, even though she wasn’t in immediate danger it is still horrible to see.
After spending the night and most of the day in the hospital and getting poked and prodded and ran on the treadmill, they find out…nothing. She has high cholesterol but they couldn’t find the cause of her pain. She has to go back in in a couple of weeks to see a doctor but however, nothing. Imagine that. She still has the pains but they aren’t that bad she says.
Hopefully they can find out what’s going on as it isn’t her heart. So on Friday-Saturday afternoon I ended up sleeping 15 straight hours. Whew. Damn mom! She needs to not scare everyone like that haha.
Continuing with the theme of looking around at my loved ones I’m going to take some time out to talk about my mom.
She’s definitely one of a kind in the sense that she can not ever be replaced nor will she. We’ve all already decided she’s living forever and that she’s always going to be living with one of us. It’s inevitable.
This woman is one of the most selfless women you could know. To have six children and raise them, she would have to be. She also has to have a keen eye for the sales!
She’s done the best job that anyone could do in raising six monster children. She is always there when she’s needed, she steps back when she’s not. As much as she hates it, she enjoys seeing each of her children grow and become the people that she had hoped and planned.
The only problem that I have with her is that she is always takes pictures with her eyes shut, no matter what! I do have one with her eyes open but with sunglasses on.
Bad pictures, no pictures, open eyes, eyes shut. She’s still the best woman I know.
Yesterday was Mom’s birthday cake day. Here birthday was on the 7th but we had just had a cake for my brothers birthday on the 3rd. She decided she didn’t want a cake on her birthday so we did it the weekend following. My brothers cake didn’t turn out so well because I didn’t use the right kind of frosting to pipe with. So this time Jamie made some buttercream frosting for the piping frosting. It turned out pretty decent and when we added the coloring it didn’t stay so well. It started separating. So, I am going to look at getting powdered coloring or something for it. Either way the cake turned out looking pretty cute.
What do you think?
