Pregnancy: Blood Pressure Back Up

Posted in Pregnancy on March 9th, 2010 by Sabriena – Be the first to comment

We had our doctor appointment today and unfortunately the blood pressure is back on the rise, even with the medication. They said I had a little bit or protein in my urine which was alright for them. However, now I have to go back in in a week to get it taken and if it’s still high then I get more labs done. I’m guessing that it’s blood work. I’m hoping it’s not another 24 hour urine sample!

Getting so close to the end and I was hoping that the blood pressure would have stayed level! However, whatever happens happens and we’ll just roll with the punches.

A tiny bit over three weeks and we’ll be considered full term. That is super excited. Full term on April Fool’s Day!

On unrelated news, the weather is finally getting warmer. We were in the 50s today and almost into 60! In fact, tomorrow is set to be 60. Of course there is rain coming with it but it is so nice not being freezing cold! I don’t mind winter but you just can’t beat the sunshine!

Ultrasound at 32 weeks

Well, last Tuesday we had another ultrasound to check out how the cyst was doing as well as the baby. Mainly the cyst. The good news is, they couldn’t find the cyst! So, they assume that it’s gone. The baby is doing great though. He’s still stubborn and they could barely get a profile shot.

The finally got a vague one and he had his hand on his head with his knee up to his face. He’s head down too, yay! The doctor also said that he is still a boy, or a girl with testicles. Let’s hope he just has one gender though!

We have basically everything ready to go. I still need to pack a hospital bag for myself and the baby and Jamie is going to throw a change of clothes in my bag too. Only four more weeks until we’re full term so I guess I should really get on that!

Oh January..you’re almost over.

Can you believe that January is almost over already? It feels like it just began! However, we’ve had a lot happen in the 16 days of the new year. With finding out that we’re having a boy, doctor appointments, as well as a family emergency, I am really looking forward to some calm days!

I took my glucose test on my last appointment and you know, it wasn’t that bad. I had the fruit punch drink and it just tasted like Kool-Aid where someone was just a bit heavy handed with the sugar. Think little kids making Kool-Aid and you’ll know the taste! I won’t know the results until my next appointment I’m sure. However, I figured if there was a problem they would have probably called to have me come in. I don’t know how these things go, I’m just assuming!

At that appointment the midwife (whom I’ve had twice now and really like her, but now that I’ve said it I’ll get someone else next time!) checked the uterus size, by feeling and measuring. She said that I jumped from 22 weeks to 28 weeks in size. She also said with a growth spurt like that, if I hadn’t had an ultrasound and knew we were only having one baby they would have given me an ultrasound to look for twins. I thought that was funny.

Around Wednesday, my little brothers Dad was taken to the hospital with suspicions of a stroke or heart attack. He was talking gibberish, combative, and didn’t know who anyone was. Thankfully, it was not a stroke or anything but swelling of the brain from another condition that they found. Also, thankfully, he is back to normal and only has to spend six more days in the hospital so he is doing well. We figured that this was going to start out just another bad year like last year.

I suppose someone is really looking out for that man since five years ago he got sick and was in a coma for a long time. A lesson for all to take care of themselves and love live, it’s short definitely.

Even all that, since he’s doing well, so far this year hasn’t been horrible in the slightest. Still doing well except that one of our cars is acting up! Always something with our cars. The Suburban hates winters and developed a flat while Jamie and Trevor were out getting wood, we haven’t fixed it yet though, and the Olds has something going on with its breaks that Jamie has to look at tomorrow.

Like I said though, so far this year hasn’t been horrible. How can it when I have Duncan building forts in the womb and I’ve been able to actually see the movements for a couple weeks now. It’s fascinating. I’m also almost in third trimester in our pregnancy. Before we know it, I’ll be going into labor and Jamie and I will be making posts on our websites welcoming our little bundle.

Pregnancy: 24 week scan

Well, we had our third ultrasound of the pregnancy and the baby wasn’t so shy this time around as the first thing that was seen was that the baby is a boy!

Ultrasound - 2010-01-05

I had a feeling it was going to be a girl the whole entire time, man was I wrong! Way wrong! That’s okay though because he is healthy and kicking away!

Everything else measured good as it did at the 19 week scan. They said he’s on the small/average side of sizing which is good. Cyst hasn’t grown any bigger at all. Another good thing!

Since everything is going well we won’t get another ultrasound for 8 weeks which will put us at 32 weeks! Ack! Can you imagine? This has just flown by!

So, there we have it! Come April (May if he’s stubborn!) and we are going to be welcoming Duncan to the family!

Whoops..14 days!?

I tried not to do this again but I guess my streak of blogging went away. I’ll blame it on the holidays and doctor’s appointments taking my time, except, I’ve also just been lazy.

So, on the doctor’s appointments, everything is fine. My blood pressure is still high and I got put on medication for it. They did labs for preeclampsia but said they all came back fine and I don’t have signs of it. Of course, following it up with “Just because you don’t have it now, doesn’t mean it won’t show up later!” Hey, thanks man!

The baby is doing fine though. I’m feeling the tyke daily now so that’s a good feeling, although strange at the same time!

Everything is else is going well though. Nothing huge happening besides the upcoming holidays. First Christmas without gramps…that’s gonna suck.
