Since I was late on Day 5′s Thankful Challenge I am going to go ahead and do day 6′s (today’s) before I get sidetracked and have to do two in one day again! I can blame it all on Duncan. Isn’t that what I had a kid for anyway?

Let me see here – I am so thankful right now that it is November 10th and it is just about 70 degrees out!

Hello, this is not fall weather!

When putting Duncan down for his nap I was actually sweating. This house is super IHOP warm. We have been lighting a fire at night and in the warmer to ward off the chilliness the creeps in.

My thoughts on that? I think that Jamie is just excited that he got the woodstove so well done that it is working a lot more efficiently.

Who is complaining about 70 degree weather in almost the middle of November? Not I, said this chick.

On day five of the thankful challenge I must say that I am so thankful for the mornings that Jamie gets up with Duncan and lets me sleep in!

I know this might seem like an odd thing to be thankful over, but I am. It isn’t very often that I get to sleep in anymore. When I do and I get the bed to myself to spread out, it’s like heaven!

Looking at the calendar and even talking about it really doesn’t prepare you for just how quickly the holiday season starts sneaking up on you.

Can you imagine in just 16 days it is already going to be Thanksgiving? Really. Sixteen days. You know what that means? Soon after that it is going to be Christmas. I haven’t even started Christmas shopping either.

Forget about Christmas shopping, I still haven’t figured out what I am going to be making for my Thanksgiving dish! Ugh. I want to try something new and delicious. Most of the traditional things for Thanksgiving is already taken such as mashed potatoes, pea salad, gravy, rolls, and all that.

Whose idea was it for me to cook something?

So really, this year, what are you thankful for the most?

I need a cookbook. I need to find my cookbook. The one that mom got me for Christmas last year. The Paula Dean cookbook to be exact. I wanted to look through it so that I can find something to cook for Thanksgiving from it. Yes, it is a Christmas cookbook but I am sure the recipes won’t mind being used for another holiday.

Now, if only I had my own big red easy button I would be able to find it in my room. Unfortunately, I don’t have that easy button and I can’t remember where I moved it to when I cleaned off the magazines and cookbooks from my desk! So disheartening! However, I do have about a week until we’ll be going Thanksgiving food shopping. Maybe I’ll find it by then.

Until then, I’ll have to use the internet. Oh the trusty internet. Now I can surf you while laying in bed again. Jamie got the laptop to semi work by switching out the batteries and not charging them all the way. This poor thing. I wish I hadn’t left that cup of coffee near it that fateful day. Alas, I can’t take it back and we can only move forward. I’m just thankful we can get some use out of it again. It makes the money we spent on it not seem so bad.

Now, it isn’t an $800 paperweight! Hooray! Still, why can’t it find my cookbook for me?
